Man suffers electrical injury at substation

STE. GENEVIEVE -- A Ste. Genevieve County ambulance was dispatched to the electrical substation at 12760 Route O yesterday afternoon at 12:50 by a report of an "electrocution".

Actually, the 61-year-old victim was reported to be conscious and breathing after making contact with 7,200 volts.

According to reports, the victim was shocked through his hands and no physical injuries were visible.

A Survival Flight medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene and transported the victim to Mercy St. Louis Hospital.

Citizens Electric Corporation spokesperson Shawn Seabaugh said he could not confirm or deny any of the information contained in the report.
