'Buy Missouri' encourages support of local biz
SAN DIEGO – The National Lieutenant Governor’s Association is meeting in San Diego, California.
Missouri Lt. Governor Mike Parson is among those attending the meeting. He and his "Buy Missouri" initiative were featured in a recent NLGA Member Spotlight.
"Buy Missouri" is a new statewide initiative through the Lt. Governor’s Office to recognize and promote Missouri businesses and products. Missouri is home to hundreds of quality goods ranging from barbecue sauce to windows to even pet food.
There has never been an initiative on this scale to identify all the products made in the state of Missouri. Lt. Governor Parson's goal is to compile all the products made within the borders of Missouri so consumers will know what products will support the state. The more Missourians buy locally made products, the more the state’s economy will prosper.
The Lt. Governor’s Office has received a tremendous response from local chambers of commerce and producers. The office recently completed the first phase of the program, during which the Lt. Governor traveled the state on a 10-city tour and visited locally produced products. Several items highlighted were Diamond Pet Food in Meta, Groves Salsa in Springfield, Roasterie Coffee in Kansas City, Hendrickson’s Dressing in St. Charles, Gilster – Mary Lee in Joplin, and Shakespeare’s Pizza in Columbia. The next phases will focus on manufactured products such as doors and windows, and hosting showcases in every region of Missouri so local companies can highlight their products to consumers.
"Buy Missouri" is a win-win for Missouri companies and consumers, and Lt. Governor Parson believes the state can only benefit from the results. It is an exciting time for Missouri!
