Ste. Genevieve parish mission slated

STE. GENEVIEVE – The Rev. Ron Hoye C.M. will be in Ste. Genevieve next month to lead a parish mission entitled "Igniting Your Faith."

Fr. Hoye is the son of the late Dr.Robert Hoye, a well-known surgeon in Ste. Genevieve and Shirley Hoye of Ste. Genevieve.

Fr. Hoye was born in California but grew up in a farming community in southern Missouri for most of his life.

In between school, his life was busy baling hay and working the farm with his other two brothers. Growing up, he was influenced greatly by his mom (a nurse) and his dad (a surgeon) whose lives were about reaching out and helping others. Fr. Ron chose a similar path and was ordained a priest in the Congregation of the Mission of St. Vincent DePaul in 1991.

Since then, he has done a variety of ministries that has involved him in the rural life of Southeast Missouri, the inner city of St. Louis and the urban experience of Chicago

Fr. Hoye holds a B.S. in Philosophy and two Masters Degrees—a M.Div. in Theology from St. Thomas in Denver, CO and a MA in Ethics from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, IL.

Fr. Hoye has been heavily involved in youth activities and programs both domestically and internationally. He co-founded the Association of Vincentian Marian Youth in the United States and founded a program of young adult service outreach in the United States called VOYA. He was involved in campus ministry at DePaul University in Chicago where he also taught classes in Business Ethics
