Shirley Petzoldt

A funeral will be held Saturday, November 12th, 2011 for 81-year-old Shirley Petzoldt of Perryville, who died Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 at Independence Care Center in Perryville.

She was born on June 26, 1930 in Farrar, the daughter of Gottfried L. and Esther M. (Bachmann) Meyer. She and Andy Cusumano were married in 1949. He preceded her in death in 1960. She then married Harlan Petzoldt on Nov. 4, 1960 and he preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2006.

Survivors include three sons, one daughter, and one adopted son; John Cusumano of Denver, CO., Tina Cusumano of Perryville, Anthony (Vicky) Petzoldt of St. Louis, Christopher (Yvonne) Petzoldt of Perryville and Michael Petzoldt of Perryville, one brother and two sisters; Louis Meyer of Perryville, Marilyn Kempfer of Edwardsville, IL., and Ann Hazelwood of St. Charles, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one sister; Betty Franklin.

Mrs. Petzoldt was a Secretary/Bookkeeper at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Past president of AmVets Auxiliary, Enjoyed playing cards, sewing and well known for her handwriting.

Friends may call at Young & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, November 11 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 6:30 - 8:30 am. Funeral Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday at 10:00 am with Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
