Robert L. Brandel Sr.

A funeral will be held Monday, September 26, 2011 for 82-year-old Robert L. Brandel Sr. of Cape Girardeau, formerly of St. Louis, who died September 21, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born December 9, 1928 in Hutchison, Kansas, son of William A. and Sadie (Bruckerhoff) Brandel who both preceded him in death.

He married Carol Emmendorfer in August 1952. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2001.

He is survived by two sons: Robert (Cindy) Brandel Jr. of Fredericksburg, Virginia and William (Susan) Brandel of Troy; a daughter: Theresa Brandel of New Mexico; a brother: Pat (Leona) Brandel of Perryville; a sister: Delores (Jim) Engemann of High Ridge; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2011 and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Monday, September 26 at the Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A parish wake will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He had been an auto mechanic for Union Electric for 33 years.

He was a former member of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church for 50 years and a former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 816 both in Spanish Lake. He was a current member of the Catholic Faith, a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict and was in the Army National Guard for six years in Perryville.

A funeral for 82-year-old Robert L. Brandel Sr. of Cape Girardeau, formerly of St. Louis will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 26 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Milton Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Memorials are preferred to Boy Scouts of America.
