A funeral will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 for 69-year-old Merlin E. Schmidt of Brazeau who died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his residence.

He was born December 23, 1941 in Altenburg, the son of Elmer and Lorna (Hasse) Schmidt who both preceded him in death.

He married Betty J. Meyer on September 4, 1965. She survives in Brazeau.

He is also survived by a son: Russell Schmidt of Brazeau; a daughter: Lora Schmidt of Marble Hill; three brothers: Ron (Arlyss) Schmidt, Clifford (Karen) Schmidt and Bob (Diane) Schmidt all of Altenburg; and a sister: Doreen Carpenter.

He had worked as a printer for Cape Central Publishing.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg and the American Legion Post 133 in Perryville.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 9 at and 6:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 10 at Young & Sons East Perry Chapel,

A funeral for 69-year-old Merlin E. Schmidt of Brazeau will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 10 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. The Rev. Steven Dressler will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside service provided by the American Legion Post 133 and Missouri Delta Team.

Memorials may be made to the family.
