Loy H. Nelson

A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2011 for 94-year-old Loy H. Nelson of Perryville, who died July 17, 2011 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born October 29, 1916 in Perry County, son of the Mac Arthur and Eunice Mary (Hudson) Nelson who both preceded him in death.

He married Marita Kathryn Loiseau on May 7, 1949. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by four sons: Stephen (Terry) Nelson of Cape Girardeau, Kent (Brenda) Nelson of Perryville, Thomas (Verna) Nelson of Cape Girardeau and Douglas (Susi) Nelson of St. Louis, eight grandchildren and one great grandson.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers: Earl, Herbert, Orville, Cletus, and Fred Nelson; five sisters: May, Ruth and Beatrice Nelson, Ora Guth and Ruby Lakenan.

He was the owner/operator and partner in L&N IGA Food Liner and partner in Village Bi-Rite Grocery Store and Nelson Shop for Children all in Perryville.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Perryville, where he was a former elder.

He was a U.S. Army WW II veteran and member of American Legion Post 133, V.F.W. Post 4282 and Am Vets Post 94.

He was also a member of the Lions Club, a Boy Scout Leader and a former member of the Perryville Chamber of Commerce.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 20th, at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

A funeral 94-year-old Loy H. Nelson of Perryville will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 at the Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. The Rev. Bruce Owens will officiate.

Burial will be in the Home Cemetery with Military Graveside Service provided by the American Legion Post 133 and the Delta Team.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church General Fund.
