James Rodney ‘Jim’ ‘Rod’ Givens

A funeral will be held Saturday, May 21st, 2011 for 76-year-old James Rodney, also known as "Jim" or "Rod" Givens of Frohna who died Monday, May 16th at his home.

He was born May 26th, 1934 in Allenville, the son of Martha Jane (Morrison) and Edward W. Givens who both preceded him in death.

He married Charlotte Marrs on November 14th, 1957. She survives in Frohna.

He is also survived by a daughter: Kimberly (Michael) Murphy; two grandchildren: Matthew and Kelly Murphy, all of Kirkwood; and a sister in law: Phyllis (Robert) Preis of Aurora, Colorado. He was also a dear uncle, great uncle, great great uncle and friend.

He was also preceded in death by a son: Mark Givens and eleven siblings.

He graduated from Delta High School in 1951.

He rose to the rank of PFC in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked for 28 years at Lever Brothers in St. Louis before his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 and 8-11 a.m. Saturday, May 21st, 2011 at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville.

A funeral for 76-year-old James Rodney, also known as "Jim" or "Rod" Givens of Frohna will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21st, 2011 at the Miller Family Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Bro Don Estes will officiate. Burial will be in the Kenyon Cemetery with graveside military honors.

Memorials are preferred to Southeast Hospice or a charity of your choice.
