Frederick 'Sonny' W. Stortz

A funeral will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 for 73-year-old Frederick "Sonny" W. Stortz Jr. of Perryville, who died Thursday, April 14 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born August 6, 1937 in Perryville, the son of Frederick William and Irene Josephine (Pingel) Stortz Sr. who both preceded him in death.

He is survived by four sons: Larry (Rae) Stortz of Perryville, Darrell (Ronna) Stortz of Perryville, Frederick "Willie" (Melissa) Stortz of Summerfield, Illinois, and Frederick "Jay" (Nicole) Stortz of Perryville; three daughters: Kathy (Paul) Cavins of Perryville, Dana (Brian) Kahmke of Perryville and Rhonda (Rocky) Vernon Perryville; three brothers: Bernard Stortz of Perryville, William "Bill" (Becky) Stortz of Perryville and Ronnie (Paulette) Stortz of Perryville; three sisters: Dorothy (Leon) Miller of Perryville, Margie (Harold) Miller of Perryville and Zita (Jim) Kramer of St. Mary; 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Debbie Hendrix; a brother: Edward Stortz; and four grandchildren: Terry and Jeffrey Jackson, Cole Compton and Leeann Bishop.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of AmVets Post No. 94.

He was retired from landscaping.

He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, April 17 and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Monday, April 18 at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A Catholic wake will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral mass for 73-year-old Frederick W. "Sonny" Stortz Jr. of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 18 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Milton Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery in Perryville.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association.
