Laverne Mary Buchheit

A funeral will be held Monday, March 28, 2011 for 87-year-old Laverne Mary Buchheit of Perryville who died March 24, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 16, 1923 in Belgique, daughter of August William and Ida Christine (Kirn) Berkbuegler whio both preceded her in death.

She married Herbert Buchheit on January 5, 1942. He survives in Perryville.

She is also survived by three daughters: Betty (Gary) Statler of St. Charles, Anna (Kenny) Krauss of Perryville and Glenda Buchheit of Maplewood; a sister: Lillian Regelsperger of Festus; a brother: John Berkbuegler of Mexico; six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a great grandson and three sisters: Sylvia Buchheit, Frances Cissell and Bernetta Beeves.

She had worked at International Shoe Factory, Prince Gardner and St. Vincent Cafeteria and was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, The women quilters at St. Vincent, Western Catholic Union and Square Dance Club.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011 and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. An American Legion Auxiliary Wake will be held at 6:30 p.m., a V.F.W. Auxiliary Wake at 6:45 p.m. and a Catholic Wake at 7 p.m. all on Sunday at the funeral home. A Rosary will be held at 8:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.


A funeral mass for 87-year-old Laverne Mary Buchheit of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Milton Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul School System, American Cancer Society, or to a charity of choice.
