Spring registration opens at MAC
PARK HILLS Ė The autumn leaves are falling, and so are the days on the calendar that lead up to the beginning of spring semester at Mineral Area College.
"Spring classes start Tuesday, January 16 and, even though that seems like a long way off, registration started October 23 for currently enrolled sophomores, October 25 for currently enrolled freshmen, and opened to the public October 30," Registrar Pam Reeder said. "Before we know it, weíll be registering students in March for summer classes."
Reeder said many potential students will be visiting MACís website, www.MineralArea.edu, to apply for admission, check out the registration guide, view course offerings, register for classes, and reserve text books.
"Each year, we try to expand the information available on our website and MyMAC, the student portal; both are great resources where students and the public can find answers to questions regarding classes, financial aid, and the college in general," she said.
Spring semester begins Jan. 16 and ends May 11. The eight-week summer semester begins June 4 and ends July 30. MAC also offers 8-week classes in the spring, and 4- week classes in the summer. Many classes are offered evenings, online, and at MACís four outreach centers.
"Personal schedules are as varied as the classes we offer, so we strive to meet a variety of needs when we think about scheduling classes," Dean of Students Jean Merrill-Doss said. "Classes are offered to meet the early-morning needs of students who work in the afternoon, and the after-five needs of students who work during the day. Some classes even meet on Saturday mornings and a weekend format."
First-time students can apply online at www.MineralArea.edu or contact the Admissions Office at (573) 518-2133 for application information. Once admitted, students will be assigned an advisor with whom they can schedule an appointment to discuss degree and course options.
Returning MAC students can update their application and enroll online or schedule an appointment with an advisor and enroll in person. Appointments are available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. - 4 a.m. and Monday and Wednesday evenings by calling (573) 431-4593. All students are encouraged to meet with an advisor to stay on track to graduate.
Students who plan to enroll in English or math courses need to take a placement test if they have not taken the ACT. For a list of on- and off-campus testing dates, call (573) 518-2202 or (573) 518-2188.
Arrangements for paying tuition and fees must be made at the time of registration, and applications for financial aid should be completed prior to enrolling in classes. For financial aid questions email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (573) 518-2133.
Students can price and reserve textbooks online at www.MineralArea.edu. Spring textbooks will be available online on or about December 1. Spring textbook sales at the campus bookstore, including online and order pick up, will begin Jan. 4.
