No Shave November raises money for Shop With a Cop

PERRYVILLE -- Normally, officers in uniform at the Perryville Police Department are required to be clean shaven, with the only exception a trimmed mustache. However, during the month of November, the police department has suspended the shaving regulation for male officers who make a donation to the Shop with A Cop program.

Chief Direk Hunt said, "We decided to allow officers to participate in No Shave November not only to bring awareness to men's health issues but as a way for our officers to give back to our youth in the community."

This year will be the 15th annual Shop with a Cop event where children who are referred to the program have the opportunity to shop for Christmas with an officer. Last year, due to the fundraising efforts of the Perry County Sheriff's Department and the Perryville Police Department, over 160 children were able to shop with cop.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Shop with a Cop program may mail or drop off their monetary donation off to the Perryville Police Department at 120 N. Jackson St. or the Perry County Sheriff's Department at 710 S. Kingshighway, attention: Shop with a Cop.
