Candlelight Vigil slated for Orphan Sunday, Nov. 12

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- A group of local organizations and individuals are making plans to celebrate National Adoption Month, which is observed each November.

The Light up the Night candlelight vigil is scheduled for Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Mercy Hill Church in Jackson. The evening will feature music, adoption stories, food, and fellowship. Individuals and families can attend this free event to honor and celebrate adoption in their lives, or to learn more about how to get involved with adoption, foster care, and advocacy for children. Local foster and adoptive families and adoption professionals will be there to answer questions and provide information.

The Children’s Coalition includes adoptive and foster parents and other interested individuals, as well as representatives from local foster and adoption organizations such as Voices for Children (formerly CASA), Hope Children’s Home, Lutheran Family and Children’s Services, the Missouri Children’s Division, Room for One More, and Care Portal.
