Power still out for hundreds in Perry County

PERRYVILLE -- Citizens Electric crews and teams from other cooperatives and a third-party contractor returned to work before dawn this morning a mandatory safety stand-down.

As of 10:55 a.m. today approximately 865 members remain without power. Over 620 members are concentrated in the U.S. 61-Brewer area. Citizens anticipates that electric service in this area could be restored later today if no unforeseen issues arise.

Citizens is replacing over 40 poles in the areas around Highway 51 near Barrens Winery and the ‘bottoms’ area near Route C. Power could be restored in these areas as early as Friday; however, additional updates on our progress will be issued as more information is gathered.

Citizens Electric appreciates the ongoing coordination of the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Perry County Sheriff’s Department, the Perry County Commission, the City of Perryville, the Perryville Police Department, and the various emergency management agencies that are facilitating Citizens’ efforts to restore electric service as quickly and safely as possible. We appreciate the understanding and patience of our members as we work through this devastating event.
