A funeral service will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 for 84 year old Alan George Stumpe of Chester, IL who died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester, IL.

Alan was born January 18, 1933 in Chester, IL, the son of the late Norbert and Martha (Bauer) Stumpe.

Alan served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1953 and was stationed in Greenland. When he came back from the service he worked for the International Shoe Factory in Chester and St. Louis for several years. Then he went to work as a custodian at the Chester Grade School until his retirement in 1993.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois.

Survivors include one sister, Ruth Petrowske of Chester, IL. One brother, Norbert "Buddy" Stumpe of Chester, IL. One sister in law, Sarah Stumpe of Okeechobee, FL. One uncle, John Bauer of Evansville, IL. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Roger and Roland "Red" Stumpe, one sister in law, Dorothy Stumpe and two nephews.

Visitation will be after 9am Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester, IL.

A funeral service for 84 year old Alan Stumpe will be held at 11am Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester, IL with Father Gene Wojcik officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Chester, IL.

Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School in Chester, IL or in the form of Masses.
