We Live in Hearts We Leave Behind ~ Thomas Campbell
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 for 86 year old Angela Search of Chester, IL who died Wednesday, November 2, 2016, in Three Springs Nursing Lodge, Chester, IL. Per her own game plan, almost, she passed away peacefully in her sleep - just did not reach 93 as she previously proclaimed.
Angela was born October 25, 1930, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Charles W. Scott and Harriet (Taylor) Scott. Her mother died when Angela was 4 years old. Her step mother, Ruth (Doty) Scott, also precedes her in death.
Angela attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Chester, and graduated from Chester High School in 1948. It is there that she met her future husband and perhaps started a dream to "see the world" as they would envision traveling to foreign lands while supposedly studying their history lessons.
On August 4, 1951, Angela married Theodore C. (Ted) Search of Chester, IL. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2010. They indeed did travel the world -literally. But prior to passports, they raised five sons: Tom (Vicki), Chester, IL; Tad, San Antonio, TX; Toby (Gina), Columbia, IL; Tate (Leah), Chester, IL and Tucker (Stacey), Chester, IL. Tucker preceded her in death.
Angela's grandchildren and great grandchildren include Tyson (Amber) Search, children Reagan and Hudson, Columbia, IL; Courtney (Rip) Rowan, children Max and Brooks, Columbia, IL; Tanner (Kelly) Search, Highland, IL; Trey Search, Columbia, IL; Tyler (Kacey) Search, Chester, IL; Nicole (Brendan) Madsen, Odessa, MO; Josh Chambers, Chester, IL; and Jamie (Lee) Peck, Pinckneyville, IL.
Angela was the oldest of eight siblings: Annibelle "Paddy" Beck (husband Fred, both deceased), Ruth Ann Neff (husband Bob, deceased), Taylor "Ronnie" Scott (wife Janet), Beth Willhite (husband Doyle), Annette Barbeau (deceased), Celeste Higgins (husband Mike), Wally Scott (wife Patty), and Joe Scott (wife Bev).
In 1972, Angela joined the family business, Chester Chrysler Center, as Secretary-Treasurer. She retired at the end of December, 2015. Her desk faced such that all customers had a chance to stop in and chat. In fact, if a repair took longer than expected, Angela could always be counted upon to keep the patron "busy" - so much so that the customer would have to be told, "Your vehicle was ready some time ago".
Angela was always partial to raising boys - said she always wanted boys - being a positive thinker, what else would you say with five of them? As a result of following her sons' sports schedules, in the 1970's and 80's she became very involved in the Chester Booster Club and took pleasure in organizing out -of-town bus trips to Yellow Jacket football games and coordinating the annual High School Sports Banquets. She continued to attend Chester High School football and basketball games until very recently.
Angela looked forward to the time spent with friends as they used their bridge card clubs as a very logical reason to meet and enjoy each otherís company - although she could never seem to remember who won. Angela was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
But above all, Angela's daily activities centered on others. Her "Little Black Book" included birth dates, anniversary dates, and any other important dates and/or information she deemed worthy of recording. And not only recording, but then following up with a card or short note to acknowledge. As someone posted following her passing: "She always had the birthday card arrive on the actual day of the birthday, too. She was the only woman alive who figured out the US Post Office."
Angela Search: simply one of the nicest, friendliest, ever-smiling eternal optimists God placed among us.
