Funeral services will be Friday, December 10, 2010 for 98 year old Pete Fortner of Chester, IL who passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at St. Johnís Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, MO.
Pete was born August 25, 1918 in Buick, MO, the son of Sam and Ida (Mounce) Fortner. He married Ruby Canady on March 13, 1942 in Perryville, MO and she preceded him in death on July 6, 2005.
Survivors include one son, Mike (Linda) Fortner of Chester, IL. Two daughters, Betty (Elsworth) Varner of Du Quoin, IL and Sharon Morgan of Chester, IL. One brother, Jack Fortner of Belleville, IL. Five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, three brothers, three sisters and two granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester, IL and from 10am to 11am Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin, IL.
Funeral service for Pete Fortner will be at 11am Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Gospel Assembly Church in Du Quoin, IL with Rev. Fitzsimmons officiating.
Burial will be in the Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, IL.
