Funeral services will be Friday, June 4, 2010 for 89 year old Evelyn Gibbs of Chester, IL who passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010 at St. Annís Healthcare Center in Chester, IL.
Evelyn was born April 28, 1921 in Cresco, IA, the daughter of Octaavius and Valentine (Coen) VanDerHeyden. She married Jesse Gibbs on October 15, 1941 in Waukegan, IL and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2003.
Survivors include 10 children, Hellen Sasson of Chester, IL, Vincent Gibbs of Fults, IL, Donald Gibbs of Peru, IN, Donna Cowan of Chester, IL, Allen Gibbs of Chester, IL, Dennis Gibbs of Okeechobee, FL, Brenda McVicar of Marion, IL, Thomas Gibbs of Ellis Grove, IL, Cindy Eggemeyer of Chester, IL and Mark Gibbs of Chester, IL. Two brothers, Elmer VanDerHeyden and Roger VanDerHeyden both of Rochester, MN. 27 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm Thursday, June 3, 2010 and from 7:30am to 9:45am Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester, IL.
Funeral service for Evelyn Gibbs will be at 10am Friday, June 4, 2010 at St. Maryís Catholic Church in Chester, IL with Father Gene Wojcik, Rev. Ryan McVicar and Rev. Richard Cowan officiating.
Entombment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, IL.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Tom Gibbs for the care of Daniel Gibbs who was born with Charge Syndrome and was very dear to Evelynís heart.
