A funeral will be held Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 for 59-year-old
Claudia M. Vani of Farmington, formerly of Kaskaskia, Illinois, who died
Saturday, January 10th at her residence.
She was born May 12th, 1949 in Kaskaskia, Illinois, the daughter of the
late Claude M. Picou and Julia (Layton) Picou, who survives in Kaskaskia,
She married Joseph A. Vani on November 25th, 1972. He survives in
She is also survived by two daughters and a son in law: Julia and Mike
Long of Murphysboro, Illinois and Anna Vani of St. Louis; seven brothers and
four sisters in law: David Picou of Kaskaskia, Illinois, Leo and Amy Picou
of White Hall, Illinois, Ben Picou of Chester, Illinois, Ed Picou of
Kaskaskia, Illinois, Dan and Yolanda Picou of Galatia, Illinois, Ted and
Tanis Picou of Kaskaskia, Illinois, and Peter and Mona Picou of Kaskaskia,
Illinois; a sister and her special friend: Toni Picou and Steve Barber of
Marissa, Illinois; a brother in law: Raymond Martin of Carbondale, Illinois
and a grandchild, Amelia Long.
She was also preceded in death by a brother: Tim Picou; and a sister,
She was a 1967 graduate of Chester High School and graduated from
SIU-Carbondale with a B.S. in education in 1972.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 13th at the Basler Funeral
Home in Ste. Genevieve.
A funeral for 59-year-old Claudia M. Vani of Farmington, formerly of
Kaskaskia, Illinois, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 14th at the
Immaculate Conception Church in Kaskaskia, Illinois. The Rev. Richard
Kasznel will officiate.
Burial will be in the Kaskaskia Cemetery in Kaskaskia, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to BJC Hospice.
