Milton "Pete" Atchison
Funeral services will be Monday, November 17, 2003 for 76 year old Milton
"Pete" Atchison who passed away Friday, November 14, 2003 at
Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.
Pete was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Chester,
the Masonic Lodge in Chester, Moose, Eagles, Elks, Shriners, Farm Bureau,
Coal Belt Fire Fighters Association, a life member of the Chester VFW and
American Legion. He was a member of the Chester Fire Department for 39 years
serving as Fire Chief for 17 of those years. He was a member of the US Navy
SeaBees for 42 years and three months and earned the highest enlisted Naval
rank of Master Sergeant. Pete also owned a service station in Chester since
He was born April 10, 1927 in Randolph County, IL, the son of Omer and
Kate (Holloman) Atchison. He married Luella Gross on July 19, 1952 in
Perryville, MO and she survives of Chester. Also surviving is one son, Jerre
Atchison of Chester. One daughter, Joyce Carnahan of Red Bud, IL. One
sister, Eleanor Adkisson of Champaign, IL. Five grandchildren and four great
grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and

McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester, IL.
Funeral services for Milton "Pete" Atchison will be Monday,
November 17, 2003 at 10am at the Schroeder McClure Funeral Chapel in
Chester, IL with Rev. Marvin "Bud" Bennett officiating. Burial
will be in Mill Creek Cemetery near Chester, IL.
Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Leukemia Research
Foundation, Chester Fire Department or Mill Creek Cemetery.
