Funeral services will be Monday, January 14, 2002 for 83 year old Louis
Kerkhover of Chester, IL who died Friday, January 11, 2002 at Memorial
Hospital in Chester, IL.
Born October 21, 1918 in Belgique, MO, the son of James and Amella (VanVooren)
Kerkhover. He married Wilma Shemonic on June 20, 1940 in Chester, IL and she
preceded him in death. He then married Dorothy Jany on April 5, 1986 in
Chester, IL and she survives of Chester, IL.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary of Rockwood, IL and Jeff of Chester,
IL. One daughter, Sandra Mahon of Coal Valley, IL. One step daughter,
Michele Wittenborn of Cape Girardeau, MO and one step son, Michael Jany of
Winamac, IN. One brothers, James Kerkhover of Chester, IL. Three sisters,
Lucy McMath and Odelia Dethrow both of Chester, IL and Sadie Pahich of St.
Louis, MO. Seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, three brothers and
Friends may call after 3pm Sunday, January 13, 2002 at the Welge Pechacek
Funeral Home in Chester, IL.
Funeral services for Louis Kerkhover will be Monday, January 14, 2002 at
11am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chester, IL with Msgr. Dennis
Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military
graveside services conducted by VFW Post #3553 of Chester, IL.
Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School in Chester, IL or
in the form of Masses.
