Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 2, 2002 for 89-year-old Daniel S. Vasquez of Chester, who died Saturday, December 29, 2001 at Memorial Hospital in Chester.

Born January 29, 1912 in St. Charles, MO, the son of Peter and Rosalie (Sills) Vasquez. They both preceded him in death.

He married Blanche Surman on February 19, 1946 in Chester. She survives in Chester.

Other survivors include one son, Michael Vasquez of Chester; four brothers, James, Aurelius and Mark Vasquez, all of Lenzburg, IL, and Vernon of Granite City; four sisters, Dorothy Leinicke of Rockwood, Anna Marie Rodgers of Independence, MO, Betty Vahlkamp of Mascoutah and Norma Bergkoetter of St. Libory. Three grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Others preceding him in death include three brothers and one sister.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #3790 in Chester, 4th degree Knights of Columbus Fort Kaskaskia General Assembly, former member of Chester Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, past member of Randolph County Pork and Cattle Producers and the Randolph County Farm Bureau.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 1 and from 7:30-9:45 a.m. Wednesday, January 2 at the Schroeder-McClure Funeral Home in Chester.

Funeral services 89-year-old Daniel S. Vasquez of Chester will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 2 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chester with Monsignor Dennis Schaefer officiating. Burial in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Chester.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Masses.
