James William Sauerhage
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000 for 68-year-old James William
Sauerhage, who died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital In Murphysboro.
He was born on July 28th, 1931 in Chester, the son of Louis and Alice
(Heffner) Sauerhage. He was married in St. Louis on September 10th, 1955 to
Barbara Ann Barley, who survives in Ava. He is also survived by four sons; Gary Sauerhage
of Chester, Steve Sauerhage of Percy, and Jeff & Kevin Sauerhage of Ava
daughters; Nancy Mathis of Chester, Rebecca Johnson and Brenda Shipley of Steelville, Tina
Mahoney of Rosiclaire, Carol Martinez of Carbondale and Patty Niemeyer of Desoto. He is
also survived by three brothers; Louis Sauerhage, Jr. and Bill Sauerhage of Chester, and
George Sauerhage of Evansville
and three sisters; Lola Koch of Marissa, Katherine
Stueve of Jacob and Norma Jean Woelich of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. He is also survived by
17 grandchildren and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons and one daughter.
He was a disabled American veteran. He served as a Corporal in the Korean War, a member
of the Pentecostal faith, and VFW Post #3553 of Chester.
Visitation will be tonight Jan. 25, 2000 beginning at 6pm, and Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000
from 730am until the time of the service, at Wilson Funeral Home of Ava. The funeral
service for 68 year old James William Sauerhage will be Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000 at 11am,
at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Ava, the Rev. Phil Keeton officiating. Burial will be
in the Looney Springs Cemetery in Campbell Hill.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
