Leonard "Itch" Clendenin

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 8, 2000 for 57-year-old Leonard "Itch" Clendenin of Chester who died Saturday, February 5, 2000 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born July 11, 1942 in Ebenezer, Illinois, the son of Robert and Mabel (Brown) Clendenin. He married Donna Monfredini on March 28, 1964 in West Frankfort and she survives of Chester.

Also surviving is one son, Curtis of Belleville. One brother, Allen Carter Clendenin of Rockwood. Four sisters, Kathryn McClurken, Sue Klindworth and Bernice Cowan all of Chester and Mary Ann Bunselmeyer of Rockwood. His mother in law survives, Pansy Monfredini of Orient, Illinois as well as a brother in law, Jim Monfredini of Danville and one sister in law, Mildred Gregory of Chester. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call after 4pm Monday, February 7, 2000 at the Schroeder McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester.

Funeral services for Leonard "Itch" Clendenin will be Tuesday, February 8, 2000 at 11am at the Schroeder McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester with Rev. Bob Chapman officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Rockwood.

Memorials can be made to the Ebenezer Cemetery, Methodist Church of the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Clendenin played baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies for seven years. He was a past teacher at Chester, Waterloo and Perryville High School. He has been inducted into the McKendree College Hall of Fame and was recently selected for induction in the Chester High School Sports Hall of Fame.
