Irene Wedemeyer

Funeral services will be Tuesday for 75 year old Irene Wedemeyer of Steeleville who died Sunday in Carlyle, Illinois.

Born November 28, 1923 in West Point, Illinois, the daughter of Heinrich and Frieda (Beisner) Hornbostel. She married Alvin Wedemeyer on January 18, 1942 in West Point and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Mike of Steeleville and David of Sparta. Four daughters, Sharon Doeding of Carlyle, Debbie Wedemeyer of Sparta and Kathy Garris and Regina Nuyt both of Perryville. Three sisters, Lydell Decker of Evansville, Florence Stoffel of Willisville and Bonnie Wright of Cutler. 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one daughter and one sister.

Friends may call after 4pm Monday, March 15 at the Wilson Funeral Home in Steeleville.

Funeral Services for Irene Wedemeyer will be Tuesday afternoon at 2pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Dr. Alan Janneke and Rev. Steve Okpisz officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Campbell Hill.
