Funeral services will be Monday, December 20, 1999 in Chester, Illinois and Tuesday,
December 21, 1999 in Herod, Illinois for 59-year-old Herschell Turner of Chester, Illinois
who died Friday at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He was born February 28, 1940 in Elizabethtown, Illinois, the son of Howard and Lillian
(Carr) Turner. He married Evelyn Owens on March 7, 1958 in Rosiclare, Illinois and she
survives of Chester.
Also surviving are three sons, Kevin Turner of Chester, Illinois, Ken Turner of Ellis
Grove, Illinois and Kris Turner of Great Falls, Montana. Two daughters, Karen Collier of
Steeleville, Illinois and Kim Gartley of Chester, Illinois. Four sisters, Jane Manazares,
Pubelo, Colorado, Emma Blair of Shawneetown, Illinois and Norma Hogg and Ruth Miller both
of Rosiclare, Illinois. Nine grandchildren also survive.
His parents, stepfather and one brother preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 5pm to 8pm Sunday, December 19, 1999 and from 3pm to 7pm Monday,
December 20, 1999 at the Schroeder McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester, Illinois. A memorial
service will be held Monday evening at 7pm at the Schroeder McClure Funeral Chapel in
Chester, Illinois with Pastor Ron Coleman officiating.
Then, Mr. Turner will be taken to Herod, Illinois where friends may call after 10am
Tuesday, December 21, 1999 at the Honeycomb Church of God.
Funeral services for Herschell Turner will be Tuesday, December 21, 1999 at 1pm at the
Honeycomb Church of god in Herod with Rev. Harold Miller officiating. Burial will be in
the Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, Illinois.
Memorials can be made to the Grace Church Youth Fund.
