March primary ballot set in Randolph County

The March 20 primary election ballot is set in Randolph County after the filing period ended earlier this week.

In the race for Randolph County Clerk, republicans Cypress Gibson of Coulterville and Melanie Johnson of Sparta will square off for the right to challenge Democrat Bobby Klausing of Sparta. Current county clerk Pat Laramore announced this summer that she would not seek re-election next year.

That is the only contested March primary race in Randolph County.

Elsewhere, County Treasurer Justin Jeffers, a Sparta Democrat, will face a challenge from Republican Debbie Hoelscher of Rockwood. Hoelscher is the wife of former Randolph County Sheriff Mike Hoelscher who is the current EMA Coordinator for the county.

Randolph County Sheriff Shannon Wolff, a Chester Democrat, will face a challenge from Republican William Gibson of Coulterville.

For Randolph County Commissioner, incumbent Republican Marc Kiehna will face a challenge from Democrat Wayne Voss who is currently serving the county as Supervisor of Assessments.

There is only one candidate for Voss' position as Supervisor of Assessments and that is Democrat Doug Sacthleben of Red Bud.
