Chester man will be sentenced later this month on property damage charge

A Chester, IL man will be sentenced later this month in Randolph County court after pleading guilty to a property damage charge.

Randolph County States Attorney Jeremy Walker reports 26 year old Travis Lailer pled guilty to the offense of Criminal Damage to Property before Judge Gene Gross. No agreement was reached as to the sentence and this matter has been set for a sentencing hearing on November 29, 2017.

During the plea, Lailer admitted to causing damage to the driveway of an individual in rural Chester on September 12, 2017.

A charge of driving while license revoked was dismissed, per the plea.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation in this matter.

"Mr. Lailer has priors and has received probation in the past," said Walker. "Therefore, we do not feel probation is an adequate sentence this time around and will request a DOC sentence. The charge dismissed was a lower classification of felony and would not have increased any sentence the Defendant may have received."
