Sparta man to be sentenced next month on drug charge
A Sparta, IL man will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to a drug charge in Randolph County court late last month.
Randolph County States Attorney Jeremy Walker reports 40 year old Kelly Keen pled guilty to the offense of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance before Judge Richard Brown.
No agreement was reached as to the sentence and a sentencing hearing has been scheduled for December 4, 2017 at 1:00 P.M.
During the plea, Mr. Keen admitted to selling less than 1 gram of cocaine to a confidential informant in Sparta on April 23, 2017. A charge of the same offense allegedly occurring on May 21, 2017 was dismissed pursuant to the plea.
The Sparta Police Department handled the investigation in this matter.
"We do not typically offer probation to drug dealers and this case is no different," said Walker. "We believe Mr. Keen has a prior criminal history and we will advocate for a prison sentence on December 4."
