Chester man sentenced to jail

A Chester, IL man was sentenced to time in the Randolph County Jail last month in Randolph County court.

31 year old Steven Turner pled guilty to the offense of Failure to Register as a Violent Offender Against Youth before Judge Richard Brown.

Randolph County States Attorney Jeremy Walker said as the result of a plea deal, Turner was sentence to 30 days in the Randolph County Jail in Chester and probation for a period of two years.

During the plea, Turner admitted to not changing his address within three days of a move to a difference address in Chester on July 6, 2017.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation in this matter.

"Mr. Turner was bouncing from address to address and got caught when he was not registered at the correct address," said Walker. "Again, not the most dastardly of crimes, but we monitor people who have to register closely and certainly repeated offenses will land someone in DOC, or county jail for an extended period of time."
