Buncombe teen hurt in Williamson County crash

A 17-year-old Buncombe teen suffered major injuries in a traffic crash on Illinois Route 148 in Williamson County Thursday afternoon.

The Illinois State Police reports Katelyn A. Knaak was airlifted to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis.

Police say the crash happened when a northbound 1998 Ford Ranger driven by Knaak left the roadway to the east, the driver over-corrected to the west and the pick up traveled into the path of a southbound 2016 Ford F150 driven by 40-year-old Christopher P. Hill of Vienna. Hill refused medical treatment at the scene.

The crash happened about 2:34 p.m. at Gunners Lane.

Both drivers were buckled up.

Knaak was cited for improper lane usage.

Both pickups received major damage and were towed from the scene.
