Chester man injured in Sunday morning crash

A Chester man was seriously injured in a single vehicle accident Sunday morning at the Randolph-Jackson County line.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reports 19 year old Dalton Misuraca was airlifted to Barnes-Jewish Hospital following the 8am crash which occurred on Illinois Route 3.

Misuraca was northbound on Route 3 when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, leaving the road, striking sand-barrels and a concrete building. Misuraca had to be extricated from his 2005 Ford 500.

A 2013 graduate of Chester High School, Misuraca was airlifted to St. Louis where as of Sunday, was listed in critical condition.

In a related incident, an Anna man was cited after passing a response vehicle en route to Misuraca’s crash scene.

Responders with the Gorham Fire Department told authorities that a 2004 Lincoln passed their vehicle which had its lights and sirens activated. Responders identified the vehicle and deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department cited Robert Kendrick of Anna for passing or not pulling over for emergency vehicles responding to an accident.
