Power outages affect 1,200 CEC members

From a news release

STE. GENEVIEVE -- Around 1,200 Citizens Electric Corporation members were affected by scattered power outages caused by thunderstorms and high winds over the weekend.

CEC Member Services Manager Barb Casper says the first outage happened about 7:07 p.m. Saturday evening when thunderstorms started to roll through the area. The storms knocked down trees from outside of the right of way into primary lines which caused over 500 customers to lose power in western Ste. Genevieve County. Power was restored to all customers by 10:47 p.m.

On Sunday the outages began around 4 a.m. when gusty winds started toppled trees and blew tree limbs into our primary power lines.

Areas affected during Sunday's outages were Bloomsdale, western Ste. Genevieve County, and the cities of Ste. Genevieve, Perryville, Silver Lake, Altenburg and Fruitland.

Power was restored to all CEC. customers by 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
