PERRYVILLE -- A 46-year-old Perryville man has been charged with burglary and unlawful use of a weapon following an incident Friday at a residence on Waters Street.

Police Chief Keith Tarillion reports officers were called to the residence at about 3:35 p.m. by a report of someone chasing a female with an unknown object.

Thomas Stearns

Chief Tarillion says witnesses told police that a man, later identified as Thomas Stearns, entered the woman's house and an argument ensued. The woman told police Stearns pulled out what she believed to be a knife and was threatening her with it.

She yelled for help and her husband came to her aid. Stearns was forced out of the residence where the argument continued between Stearns and the woman's husband.

Stearns was taken into custody.
