Sheriff reports meth labs taken down, six arrested

Perry County Sheriff’s Office

PERRYVILLE -- The Perry County Sheriff's Office announced this morning that a meth lab bust Friday morning has led to the arrest of six persons, all on felony meth-related charges.

Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf says an alert Perry County deputy on routine patrol noticed something associated with methamphetamine production early Friday morning and this resulted in the seizure of what we believe is the biggest methamphetamine production operation ever found in Perry County.

The sheriff says a search warrant was served at 6755 North Highway 61, just north of Route NN shortly after 1 p.m. and authorities found two meth labs in operation at the residence.

Arrested were:

32-year-old Jeremy Lee Merriman of St. Mary,

47-year-old Pamela Jean Merriman of St. Mary,

34-year-old Michael James Wood of Perryville,

20-year-old Brittany Nicole Smith of Perryville,

40-year-old James Steven Cochran and

the man who lives in the residence, Gerald Albert Burroughs of St. Mary.

Cochran also had outstanding warrants from Jefferson County and Bonne Terre.

Sheriff Schaaf thanked the SEMO Drug Task Force, the DEA, and Jon Lanier of the Perryville Police Department, for assistance in taking down the operation.
