Jason Tilley to announce candidacy for judge Saturday

Jason Tilley

PERRYVILLE – On Saturday, Attorney Jason Tilley will announce his candidacy for Perry County Associate Circuit Judge.  The free kick-off chicken and pasta dinner with friends, supporters, and community members will begin at 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post 133 located at 98 Grand Avenue in Perryville.

"Having worked for years to represent those in the community who need a voice in the legal system, public service is in my blood and if elected Perry County Associate Circuit Judge, I will continue to devote my efforts towards improving our community" said Jason Tilley.  "I feel my experiences in providing legal services for the disadvantaged and representing our citizens in the Perry County Court will enable me to be a fair judge and make sure the criminals are taken off our streets."

Many believe that Jason’s past service to the community will give him the understanding he needs to be the Associate Circuit Judge for Perry County.  Having been involved in public service for most of his adult life, Jason has committed himself to advocating for those who cannot represent themselves.

"I think his background working with mentally disabled citizens has given him a unique perspective of the law that will allow him to make wise judicial decisions ," said Sergia Pecaut.  "I can think of no stronger supporter of the families in our community than Jason Tilley"

He graduated from Central Missouri State University and began his public service career at the Special Neighbors Program in Independence, Missouri.  There, for seven years, Jason Tilley was an aide and advocate for the adult developmental disability population, which included involvement in the Special Olympics.   After taking a break to attend law school, Mr. Tilley went on to work for the Missouri State Public Defender, providing legal services to those who could not afford to hire an attorney.

Since then he has worked as an attorney here in Perry County representing county residents in various legal matters.  As a rural lawyer he has handled both criminal and civil cases.  Lynne Brewer said, "Jason has been a good attorney who works hard for his clients and understands the courts and making sure everyone gets a fair shake.  He is just the kind of young man who would be a good judge for our community"

Jason has also continued to stay active in the community.  Having served as the past president of the Perryville Optimist Club, he works to encourage community involvement through volunteerism.

"Its exciting to see a young man, who is so involved in our community, want to run for public office.  Jason is raising his growing family here and he has been active in community organizations like the Optimist club," added Kurt Rehagen.  "I remember how he helped lead the charge on the Perryville Soccer Park which has been great for kids in Perry County."

Jason concluded, "I hope everyone will be able to join us for the free chicken and pasta dinner and I want to ask for your support in my campaign for Judge.  I can’t promise to fix every problem but I can promise to listen to the voters and do my best to be a good judge that works everyday to make Perry County one of the safest and best places to live in Missouri!"

Those wishing to attend the free chicken and pasta dinner are asked to RSVP by calling 573-547-3076 so organizers will know how much food to prepare.  Families are welcomes and encouraged to come!!
