PHS graduate receives FFA scholarship AGCO DULUTH, Georgia – AGCO (NYSE:AGCO), Your Agriculture Company, a worldwide distributor and manufacturer of agricultural equipment has named Michael Bachmann, a 2009 graduate of Perryville High School, Perryville, Mo., one of 18 recipients of $2,000 AGCO and AGCO Finance sponsored National FFA Scholarships. AGCO is proud to be a supporter of FFA and its efforts to develop outstanding student leaders like Bachmann, says Robert Crain, senior vice president and general manager, AGCO North America and member of the FFA Foundation Sponsors Board. "The winners of these scholarships have already demonstrated academic excellence and leadership roles in their schools and communities," says Crain. "FFA has nurtured and encouraged that excellence and provided opportunities for them to achieve." Crain emphasizes the unique relationship that companies like AGCO have with FFA, noting that many AGCO employees recognize the role FFA played in their own development. As a result, the company, its employees and its dealers see the FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program as a vital link to the future of agriculture and the future of AGCO. "Michael Bachmann and the other recipients of National FFA Scholarships will be our next generation of agricultural engineers, agronomists, teachers and farmers," says Crain. "FFA has played an important role in their development and education, and we are glad to be a part of it. Our sponsorship of these scholarships is a wise investment in Bachmann and the future of agriculture." Bachmann’s parents are Kevin and Joann Bachmann, Perryville, Mo. The Perryville High School graduate is attending the University of Missouri, Columbia, and plans to major in agribusiness management. AGCO salutes Bachmann’s academic performance and future plans. AGCO support for the 2008-2009 FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program continues a 63-year history of corporate support for FFA. AGCO corporate and AGCO Finance sponsored scholarships were part of a recognition effort that totaled more than $2.2 million awarded through the National FFA organization. Over the past 25 years, more than $30 million has been given to deserving students. Nationally, 1,456 scholarships were awarded to 2009 high school graduates and college students. More than 7,800 students applied for scholarships that range upwards from $1,000 for students entering a two or four year program. Academic records and FFA involvement, as well as leadership activities and work experiences, are all considered when selecting recipients. Financial need can also play a role. This year, AGCO Corporation sponsored 18 scholarships to students from California, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas. Planned majors include engineering, communications, education, economics, business and finance. "Agriculture needs people like Michael Bachmann to help tell our story and write the next chapter," says Crain. "AGCO and AGCO Finance are pleased to carry on our long term support of FFA and its role in developing students with a love of agriculture and an interest in an agricultural career."
