Child abuse suspect surrenders Perry County Sheriff's Office PERRYVILLE -- A 23-year-old Perry County man has surrendered to face felony child abuse charges.
The Perry County Sheriff's Office announced Saturday that it was seeking Paul E. McGee of Sedgewickville in connection with an incident involving his six-year-old stepson that occurred before school Thursday McGee is charged with felony child abuse for allegedly picking his six year old step-son up by the neck and hitting him above the left hip on the back with a belt, leaving bruises and welts, because he had lost his coat. Authorities had been unable to locate McGee, until he surrendered early Sunday morning. Sheriff Gary Schaaf also announced that a 43-year-old Ballwin man has been cited for third degree assault in connection with an incident last August.
The sheriff identified the suspect as Daniel M. Whitecraft. The incident happened at the Lake Ka-Tan-Da development in Perry County. Whitecraft's photo was taken by a game camera at the development and the publishing of that photo in by the area news media apparently led to his identification and charging. |
