Eugene ‘Gene’ Petzoldt A funeral will be held Thursday, February 11th, 2010 for 70-year-old Eugene "Gene" Petzoldt of Cape Girardeau formerly of Altenburg who died at the Missouri Veterans’ Home in Cape Girardeau Saturday, February 6, 2010.
He was born June 29th, 1930 in Altenburg son of Henry Otto and Hedewege "Hattie" (Niederstadt) Petzoldt who both preceded him in death. He married Eleanor Kaufman on April 19, 1956. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1989. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: David and Su Petzoldt of Niceville, Florida and Mark and Amy Petzoldt of Altenburg; four sisters: Henrietta Conners of the state of Vermont and Myra Bunn and Pauline Thurm both of Orlando, Florida, Kathryn Werner of Jackson; and one grand daughter: Whitney Petzoldt. He had been a dairy farmer for 43 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, VFW Post 4282, American Legion Post 133, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Visitation will be 8-11 a.m. Thursday, February 11th, 2010 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg. A funeral for 79-year-old Eugene "Gene" Petzoldt of Cape Girardeau formerly of Altenburg will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg on Thursday, February 11th at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jonathan Stites will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg. The Young and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
