A funeral will be held Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 for 72-year-old Evelyn M. King of Perryville who died Monday, June 15, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born in Butler County November 30, 1936, daughter of the late Vard and Lula (Cobb) Phelps.

She is survived by two daughters: Jean Yount of Sedgewickville and Dixie Batten of Farmington; two sons: Benjerman King of Harvest, Alabama and Anthony King of Biehle; four brothers: Clifton, Coy, Basil and Rascel Phelps; four sisters: Margaret Phelps Lefrink, Rita Phelps Jolliff and Joanie Phelps Basinger all of Poplar Bluff and Juanita Phelps Sells of Fredericktown; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Thomas and Vard Ray Phelps, two sisters: Geneva Phelps Griffin and Dorothy Phelps Stull and one son, Markel King.

She had worked as owner/operator of a retail shoe store and a homemaker.

Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

A funeral for 72-year-old Evelyn M. King of Perryville will be held at Young and Sons Chapel on Wednesday, June 17th at 11 a.m. with Steve Joggerst officiating.

Burial will be in the King Cemetery near Collinwood, Tennessee.

Memorials are preferred to Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.
