Daisy Irene Shrum Daisy Irene Shrum of Perryville died May 15, 2009 at Perry Oaks Nursing and Rehabilatation in Perryville. She was 90. . She was born at Lixville on April 5, 1919 daughter of the late Ralph Ramon and Bertha Ethel (Lix) Shrum. She attended Crossroads School and was a lifetime member of Crossroads Methodist Church. Her employment started in May 1943 with the Magnolia Branch of International Shoe Co. in Perryville. After working there for 21 years the plant closed in 1964. She then worked in Cape Girardeau from January 1966 till June 1977 at the Florsheim Shoe Co. for a total of about 10 ½ years.. Returning to Perryville she was employed by Gilster Mary-Lee for 3 ½ years till her retirement. Daisy loved to sew and do embroidery work, her hobbies were gardening and houseplants. She never married. Daisy is survived by a sister Viola Webb of Perryville, one brother Lester Shrum of Sedgewickville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Elmer and Ellis Shrum. Memorials are preferred to Crossroads Methodist Church, Cemetery or Crown Hospice. Funeral service for Daisy Shrum will be held at Young & Sons Chapel on Monday, May 18th at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Anthony Stewart officiating.. Friends may call on Sunday, May 17th from 4–8 p.m. and on Monday, May 18th from 6:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Burial in Crossroads Methodist Cemetery. Young & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Perryville provided the arrangements. |
