Ruth M. Balsman

A funeral will be held Saturday, April 18th, 2009 for 83-year-old Ruth M. Balsman of Perryville who died Wednesday, April 15 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Festus.

She was born July 18, 1925 in Perry County, the daughter of the late Rosati J. and Magdaline M. (Moore) Moore.

She married Raymond F. Balsman on June 9, 1945. He survives in Perryville.

Other survivors include one daughter, Ann C. (Raymond F.) Davis of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; two sons, David (Debbie) Balsman and Terry (Bobbi) Balsman both of Perryville. One brother Rosati "Jr." Moore of Perryville, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosalie Unterreiner, one infant brother Joseph R. Moore and stepfather Freddie Zahner.

She was a secretary for Balsman Insurance Company and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Ladies Sodality, and Daughters of Isabella.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. on Friday, April 17th and Saturday from 6:30 – 11:40 a.m. at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

The Catholic Wake Service will be held at Young and Sons Friday at 7:50 p.m.

The rosary will be recited Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

The funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with The Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred for Masses, St. Vincent Schools, or Kidney Foundation.
