U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) has announced that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been awarded a $150,000 Rehabilitation Long-Term Training – Rehabilitation Counseling Program Grant through the U.S. Department of Education.

The award is for the first year of an anticipated five-year grant.

The funds will support 5-6 students each year and expand efforts in training doctoral level students with rehabilitation counseling supervision and administration skills and knowledge.

"Students at Southern Illinois University are trained in a variety of disciplines, and many of them remain in Illinois to work with the people of our region and state," said Costello. "It is just another way that SIUC positively impacts our area."
