Chester City Council meets tonight

The Chester City Council will meet in session tonight in their chambers at city hall and a light agenda is waiting for the decision makers.

Among the items on the agenda, the council is expected to approve a Chester Police Department early warning storm/tornado siren activation policy as recommended by Police Chief Ryan Coffey. The council is also expected to discuss and possibly approve the appointment of Bobby Helmers as Deputy Chief of the Chester Police Department also recommended by Chief Coffey.

The council could approve part-time summer student workers to begin working on May 20 and lasting to September 30. The council could also approve the hiring of Todd Yankey as a full time employee at $12.00 per hour and approve Scott Maes as temporary employee at $12.00 per hour. Maes’ employment would run from May 20 through September 30.

Also tonight, the council could consider limiting or restricting parking on Randolph Street for safety issues. They could also approve a proposal from Rob Roy Nursery for landscaping around the new Cohen Complex sign as recommended by the Park Board.

The council is also expected to discuss streets and alleys to be oiled and chipped.
