School Board set to decide on football bleachers Thursday night

The Board of Education of Chester Unit School District #139 is set to decide whether or not Jacket football fans will be sitting a little bit closer to the school this fall.

The Board is set to meet Thursday night at the district office and one of the items on the agenda is to approve a bid for the bleacher system at the high school. The board held two public forums recently to hear what the public thought about the proposed changes which include a new 1,200 seat bleacher area with chair seats and a new pressbox.

Other items on the agenda for Thursday night, the board is expected to approve the summer "Jump Start" program at Chester High School and approved SWIC summer school at the high school.

The board is expected to approve the posting of the 10 month Curriculum/Technology Secretarial position, approve a 10 month contract for the high school guidance counselor secretary, approve Carol Rathert as the grade school librarian aide for the 2008-2009 and approve Beth Diebolt as 4th grade teacher for the 2008-2009 school year.

The board is also expected to approve the FY 2008 amended budget and approve a resolution to abate $50,000 working cash to the building fund for the OSLAD Grant.

The board will hear reports from high school Principal Keith Kittell, grade school Principal Tim Lochhead and Superintendent Rebecca Keim.

The board meeting will begin at 7pm Thursday night in the district office across from the high school campus and the meeting is open to the public.
