May 12, 2008 Powerful thunderstorms roll through Randolph County Saturday night A line of powerful thunderstorms rolled through Randolph County Saturday night leaving behind numerous reports of tree damage. The National Weather Service had to issue a Tornado Warning for northern Randolph County Saturday night just before 9pm. A thunderstorm moving through that portion of the county was showing signs of rotation on Doppler radar. A storm spotter in Modoc reported wind damage as a result of the storm. Elsewhere in the county, authorities reported a number of trees were damaged from the high winds accompanying the storms. More tree damage was reported on Sunday as wind gusts as high as 50 mph were reported around the bi-state area. The storm system finally exited the area late Sunday night. There is a chance of more showers and thunderstorms from Tuesday through Wednesday. |
