Chester City Council to meet tonight

The Chester City Council will meet in session tonight at city hall.

On the agenda, the council is expected to approve a list of appointments of Mayor Marty Bert, approve Kaile Horn, Lauriel Wingerter and Megan Atchison to work at the swimming pool this summer and approve a resolution for an ITEP Grant for a bicycle/pedestrian path.

The council is expected to hire Christine Fifer as a part time flower/shrub maintenance employee as recommended by the Beautification Committee. The council is also expected to pass an ordinance to amend an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Ellis Grove for the purchase of water and could pass another ordinance authorizing the purchase of real estate for a gas line to Riley Lake.

Also on the agenda for tonight, the council is expected to approve TIF accounting for Quality Vending, approve a $5,000 donation to the Popeye Picnic Committee and approve a proposal from Collins and Herman Fencing for the Bud Cohen Sports Complex.

The council could pass a resolution to IDOT in regards to closing a number of roads during the Popeye Picnic and they could also approve the purchase of a new recorder for the police department. Also tonight, the council could approve a month to month enrollment form of Glacial Energy to provide electrical services for the city’s municipal buildings.

The council will hear reports tonight from Mayor Bert, City Clerk Nancy Eggemeyer, City Treasurer Donna Clendenin and Police Chief Ryan Coffey along with reports from various department heads.

The council meeting will begin at 7pm tonight in their chambers at city hall and the meeting is open to the public.
